Last night, over 4 million people tuned into channel 4 to watch the pilot episode of the new sci-fi drama Humans. I was one of those people. Upon watching it my initial reaction was great, the idea was original and well thought out. Simple details like turning on the Synth by pressing under their chin, Having defective Synths stutter and forget, almost as if cursed by altzhimers really added realism and believeability to the show. I would call it a job well done.
After watching the episode again last night, I picked up details I didnt otherwise understand and develop theories which I hope will be proven right as I think they are quite interesting story lines.

In one scene we saw our main Synth (named Anita by its owners) walking in a wood along with three others and a human, named Leo. At one point you see Anita rest her head against Leo's in compassion and romance, revealing that unlike normal Synths, Anita shows affection, much outside her programming. When three of the four synths are kidnapped (reasons why currently unknown) Leo is shown in distress, previously stating things such as "if he comes, we run", making it appear they are being hunted.

So now to my theory.

Closer to humans than ever before? try actually being human.

Yes you read correctly, I genuinely believe that Synths were humans that have been abducted for whatever reason and injected with a liquid that wipes their brain back to the simplest mindset and made Synths. The ones seen with Leo are Synths that were regaining their awareness of human emotions, and Leo was trying to  convert them back.

It may sound far fetched but I think it may be a reasonable theory and also links to the title of the show.
